Taman Negara in Jerantut, Pahang is a conservation Park and Malaysia's prime National Park that covers 434,300 hectare of forest. The National Park is known as the world’s oldest Tropical Rainforest and it spans out across three states, Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu. Gunung Tahan is the highest point of Taman Negara that stands up at 2187m high.
We entered Taman Negara via Kuala Tahan. We planned to ride the boat from Kuala Tembeling to Kuala Tahan. But, as we drove by Jerantut, we didn’t manage to find the Kuala Tembeling Jetty. In other word, yes, we were lost. Heh.
With the mighty cute yellow Kelisa, we drove all the way to Kuala Tahan. It’s a straight forward road, so do not worry of getting lost along the way, but still, please be careful and do watch out for the cows. They just love to sit around on the tar road.
As it was only a 2 days trip, we booked a backpackers room for 4 in one of the hotel in Kuala Tahan. Upon arrival, after check in and was quite happy with our room, we went off straight to our first activity, the jungle trekking.
To go to Taman Negara, we have to cross the Tahan river via boat. All entry to Taman Negara need to obtain permit and if you bring cameras, make sure to declare to the entrance counter. You do need photography license before entering Taman Negara.

And here we go.
Some how, this activity felt like an educational trip. The officer was introducing us to tree root called, Liana. And Liyana listened in awe. Well, such a lovely name for tree root.

This leaf, which i forgot the name, can be use for manicure. We've tried, didnt work for us. Keh3.
Massive tree.
To the Canopy Walk...yeayyy!!!
Started to climb.
..and descending.
One of the main attractions to Taman Negara is the Canopy Walk. Canopy walk in Taman Negara is dubbed as the world’s longest canopy walkway that spans out to 500m long and 40-50m above ground level over series of suspended bridges. Only 4 people are allowed to walk on the bridge at one time to avoid overload weight and have to be at least 5m away of each other. I love the view of the forest from up above. Green.

First shaky bridge.
All of us.
Look at the perspective view. Coolness.

...plus ladder bridge.
With full stomach, thanking Allah for such luscious food, we headed off to Tahan river for our next activity, boat riding to Lata Berkoh. The boat is special. It reminds me of the boat in Bujang Lapok movie. Look a bit quite traditional except for the motor. I wished the boatman used paddle, that will look more like it. :)
Lata Berkoh is a cascade of strong current rapids. The water is deep and very cold. It is dangerous to swim at this point however there is a spot where our guide said is quite safe for good swimmers. Erk?. By boat ride, it took us about half an hour to reach the safe stop point which is about 1.2km away from Lata Berkoh. Then we walk through a trek that leads to the cascade.
Our boat and the boatman.
Neram trees along the river.
Ladies enjoying the boat ride.
Lata Berkoh
Us in Lata Berkoh, kena lah posing kasik bukti sudah sampai,...hehe
On the way back to Kuala Tahan, we made a stop at Lubuk Tenor where the sanctuary of Kelah fish is. We supposed to be able to feed the fishes but unfortunately, the place was closed when we arrived.
It was a short trip, but it was one of the best. Im officially a big fan of Taman Negara. There will surely be a 2nd trip. Maybe next trip i will include the visit Bumbun and village of orang asli. :)
